Step 1 Gather Mobile Repairing Tools
Prepare all these useful mobile repairing tools to replace the Loudspeaker of your Google Pixel 8:
- A Hot gun or Hair Dryer to heat the phone
- A suction cup to create a gap between the screen and phone frame
- A plastic opening pick or tool to slice the adhesive
- A set of screwdrivers to unfasten the screws
- A spudger to pry up the press connectors
- A pair of tweezers to hold and remove the mobile components
- Isopropyl Alcohol to melt old adhesive
- Cotton Bud to apply Isopropyl Alcohol
- Lint-free cloth to wipe
Step 2 Prepare Your Pixel 8 For Disassembly
First of all, unplug all cables from the phone and follow these steps to power off your Google Pixel 8:
- Press and hold the power and volume up button together
- Wait for a few seconds
- A power menu will appear on the screen.
- Tap on the power off option to turn off your Pixel 8.
Step 3 Heat Your Pixel 8
- Take a hot air gun or hair dryer.
- Adjust medium heat settings on the hot air gun or hair dryer. You can also use a hot plate to heat your Pixel 8.
- Heat the phone edges for 5 to 10 minutes.
- Keep the hot air gun or hair dryer at least 5 to 7 cm away from your phone.
- Heat will soften the adhesives present around all the edges of your phone.
- Do not overheat your Pixel 8 to avoid hardware damage.
Step 4 Fix A Suction Cup
- Apply a suction cup near the bottom side of your phone’s screen.
- Hold the handle of the suction cup in your hand.
- Pull the handle until a gap forms between the screen and the phone’s frame.
Step 5 Use A Plastic Opening tool
- Get a plastic opening tool and pick.
- Use a meter rule to mark 3mm on the plastic opening tool.
- Insert the opening tool into the gap only up to 3mm into the gap between the screen and phone frame.
- There is a display cable on the left side of your Pixel 8. Do not insert the opening tool over 3mm to avoid physical damage.
- After inserting the pick, remove the suction cup from the screen.
Step 6 Slice Lower Edge Adhesive
- Move the opening pick from one lower corner to the other to slice the bottom adhesive.
Step 7 Cut The Left Side Adhesive
- Keep sliding the plastic opening pick from the lower left to the upper left corner to cut the left adhesive.
Step 8 Cut Through The Upper Adhesive
- Slide the pick from the upper left to the upper right corner of the phone to slice upper-edge adhesives.
Step 9 Remove Right Side Adhesive
- Now move the opening pick from the upper right to the lower right corner to cut the right side adhesive.
Step 10 Prop Up The Screen
- Open the screen like a book and hold it in an upright position.
- Always remember the screen is connected to the phone’s frame.
Step 11 Remove The Screen Cable Cover
- Lift and remove the screen cable cover with a spudger or a prying tool.
Step 12 Disconnect The Screen
- Unclip the screen’s press connector with a spudger.
Step 13 Detach The Screen
- Detach the screen from the phone frame.
- Keep it aside in a safe place as you may need it during the reassembly of your Pixel 8.
Step 14 Peel Off The Plastic Buffer
- Pry up the black plastic buffer with the help of a spudger or prying tool.
- Hold the plastic buffer with a pair of tweezers or your fingers.
- Now peel it.
Step 15 Unscrew The USB-C Port Bracket
- There are two 5 mm-long screws, securing the USB-C Port to its recess.
- Keep the screws in a safe place.
Step 16 Separate The USB-C Port Bracket
- Hold the USB-C port bracket with a pair of tweezers.
- Remove the USB-C Port Bracket from its recess.
Step 17 Unscrew The Loudspeaker
- Remove the 5mm-long screw of the Loudspeaker with a screwdriver.
Step 18 Remove The Loudspeaker
- Use a spudger to pry up the Loudspeaker.
- Remove the Loudspeaker from its recess.
Step 19 Install The New Speaker
- Install the new Loudspeaker of your Pixel 8 into its recess.
- Tighten up the 5mm-long screw of the Loudspeaker.
Step 20 Reassemble Your Pixel 8
- Dip a cotton bud into the isopropyl alcohol.
- Rub the cotton bud around the edges of the phone frame.
- Isopropyl Alcohol will melt the old adhesive around the edges of your Pixel 8.
- Wipe the old adhesive with a clean cotton cloth.
- Reconnect all the components and fasten up the screws.
- Reconnect the screen press connector. Fix the screen's press connector cover.
- Apply new adhesive around the edges of the phone frame.
- Carefully attach the screen to the phone frame.
